Mzuni Electronic Voting Sytsem

Memory Banda and Emmanuel Mhango developed an electronic voting system.

They are fourth year students in the ICT department at Mzuzu University. The recent Mzuni Student Representative Council Elections were cast online and paperless.

The students will be given all the necessary support to improve their system.

Mzuni Fair Denmark Project Update

The project has so far setup four centres namely Mzuni Open Lab, Luwinga, Mzimba and Katoto Secondary School.

The team will be setting up Nkhatabay Boys and Bandawe Secondary Schools.

So far all is well and on track and the beneficiaries are excited about the project.

Mzuni ICT Department reaching out to secondary schools

The department of ICT of Mzuzu University has established two ICT centres at Luwinga and Mzimba secondary schools. Fair Denmark is providing material and technical support for this project.

There will be eight centres in the Northern Education Division. At least one per district. The project aim is to reach out to secondary schools in the region in terms if Computer training and access.

This is direct consequence of the introduction of Computer Studies in forms one to four. The centres will be hubs for other schools around them.

It is expected that on 12th September 2013 the project will be launched.

Each center will have at least 25 computers, a server, a printer and a multimedia projector. The centre is fully networked and internet ready. Other well wishers can provide connectivity as complementary service.

Andreas and Benjamin from Denmark are doing a good job together with lecturers, technical staff and student volunteers in setting up the centres.

Mzuni-Fair Denmark Project on Track

The department of ICT is excited about the arrival of Andreas and Benjamin at  Mzuni campus.

They are currently working hard to beat the deadline set. The two centres at Mzuni will be up and running by the end of this week.

One secondary school closely (Luwinga) will be set up next.

The management of  Mzuni is also excited about the development and it is expected that the launch of the project will be graced by high profile people from all walks of life.

Watch this space as updates of the project trickle in. The project team and the Fair duo has synchronized their energies so that the intended results are realised.

The beneficiary schools are all eager to have their centers setup.

This is a start of good things to come as this is not a one off project but a continuous collaboration.

Fair Danmark-Mzuni Project

Fair Danmark has donated about 300 desktops and about 100 laptops to Mzuzu University ICT Department to distribute to secondary schools in Northern Region.

ICT centres will be set up in five districts to enable secondary school students access computers and some educational packages.

The Mzuni ICT department will cordinate all the activities. Fair Danmark staff will arrive in Malawi  to help in the setting up of some centres. LAN will be set up and this will enable schools to connect to Internet if needed.

The project is in line with the Ministry of Education , Science and Technology goal of introducing Computer Studies in schools. Students will benefit as they will be exposed to computers before they proceed to colleges.

It is hoped that more schools be reached so as to increase the number of beneficiaries.
